I am sorry to sound negative but you have left a few men who’s names should be mentioned. Men, who have had affairs are Republican also, John McClain , Speaker of the House Trent Lott , Newt Gingrich and yes the list goes on. I do believe there is a terrible double standard and Ms.Ryan is a prime case. She stayed with him through out some very terrible times. It is all on the Internet.

My only comment comes from Mr. Quaid himself, he did nothing to stand by his wife, I know this sounds terrible at face value.
As you said they have no privacy, no time to reflect, to talk to make a decision. It is as if America calls the shots? DIVORCE!
The sad part in it all is perhaps his action of innocence, I think as years went by and Meg Ryan was closed mouthed, so still ‘the bad one.’ Maybe this was her reason as she told a news reporter in my defense, ‘Dennis has committed adultery for years’. I would like to hope she may not have said this if he would have stood tall and said, ‘you don’t know about our marriage, do not put me on a pedestal.’ As you have said, you find little integrity today.

Dear Petunia, Thank you for your comment. You are absolutely right and I whole heartedly agree; no one has the right to cheat on anyone, period! My piece was an attempt to deconstruct the added strains to celebrity marriages, which includes the scrutiny that they are under—at all times—by the public. I, in no way, want my comments interpreted as an excuse for infidelity!!! So thanks for giving me the opportunity to address that emphatically! Rona

Dennis Quaid had no right whatsoever to cheat on Meg Ryan for the many years that he did. She did not deserve that. As for his career: he has only had a bunch of huge flops the last few years.
