Entertainment Reporter Rona Barrett Is Star of Her Own One-Woman Show, Nothing But the Truth
By Kenneth Jones, Playbill.com

Rona Barrett, the veteran entertainment reporter whose TV coverage of film, theatre and celebrities ushered in the modern infotainment era in the 1970s and ’80s, is taking her act on the road.

Her one-woman show, Rona Barrett: Nothing But The Truth, will premiere June 17 at The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, CA. Additional bookings around the country are expected to be announced.

The show, spiced by video clips of Barrett’s work over the years, is produced by Dick Taylor Productions, directed by David Gilligan, written by Bill Royce & Jayne Hamil, with video production & editing by Eric Allen.

Nothing But the Truth “will include anecdotes from her years in Hollywood, highlight clips of classic interviews with Cher, Bette Davis, John Wayne, Bette Midler, Robin Williams, Carol Burnett, Raquel Welch and many more, as well as revealing behind the scenes stories of what really happened during that time.”

Barrett – an original cast member of “Good Morning America,” and host of TV specials for ABC and NBC – left entertainment reporting in the early 1990s.

Proceeds from the live stage show will benefit The Rona Barrett Foundation, which supports seniors in need, a non-profit organization which she founded in 2000. The foundation provides housing, food, clothing and assisted living for seniors.

In Nothing But the Truth, a candid Barrett will tell her own story: An overweight girl with a handicap growing up in Queens, NY, she became a writer and close friend of Hollywood hopefuls who later became stars. She would rise to become the nation’s major TV entertainment reporter.
