Redefining “Senior”

Philosophy For Old Age:

This was sent to me by a dear friend. Take a few minutes to view this, you’ll be glad you did.

The other day I responded to a letter from one of Rona’s Warriors that asked if we should look for a new meaning for “Senior.”  My view on becoming a “Senior” is that we shouldn’t look at the word as something disastrous, but that we should be proud of being a senior because it means you have achieved a great deal in your life.

The example I gave was that when we are young we long to become a “senior” in grade school, followed by “I can’t wait to be a senior in High school.”  Followed by you can’t wait to be come a “senior” in college.  And then you go off to work and you can’t wait for some executive  to make you the “senior” of a department…or the Executive Senior of a company.  Why then should you think that becoming a member of the Senior Generation is something awful?  To me you should think of it as your greatest achievement.

This is why we are calling the pilot facility we hope to build in 2011 “The Golden Inn in a Golden Village.”  We will prove to those who need help the most that you can live in the generation we are referring to as “The Golden Years.”

At the Golden Inn all residents will be referred to as “The Platinums.”

Help us achieve this goal and make whatever contribution you can to the Rona Barrett Foundation for Seniors In Need. (Click here to donate).  When this new facility is completed we believe it will provide a new model for other communities around the country to duplicate this concept.
