Gay & Lesbian Elder Housing Proudly Presents the 9th Annual Garden Party & Fundraiser Being Held On October 3rd 2010!

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The 2010 Garden Party to benefit Gay & Lesbian Elder Housing will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 3 2010 at the Hancock Park historic Petitfils-Boos estate in Los Angeles, CA.  This will mark our ninth year of hosting this amazing event and we look forward to sharing some of the remarkable inroads that we continue to make in the welfare and happiness of our LGBT seniors.  As always, the event is open to the public.

This year’s event will feature our special celebrity honorees:

Filmmaker and Choreographer Adam Shankman – A multi-faceted talent, Mr. Shankman’s work ranges from co-producer/lead choreographer of the 2010 Academy Awards (which earned a record 12 Emmy nominations), to directing and producing such hits as “Hairspray” and the upcoming “Rock of Ages.”  In addition, Mr. Shankman heads his production company, Offspring Entertainment, and co-founded the Dizzy Feet Foundation, which promotes dance education.

Legendary Television Entertainment Reporter Rona Barrett – Ms. Barrett is a true pioneer of business and entertainment reporting.  Interviews with such notables as John Wayne, Lucille Ball, and Bette Davis became her trademark and film clips of these talks, along with Rona’s own recollections of her illustrious career, are the focal point of her new one-woman show, “Rona Barrett: Nothing but the Truth,” which recently premiered in Beverly Hills to rave reviews and was created in support of the Rona Barrett Foundation on behalf of seniors in need.

Dr. Tony Mills, MD – a Los Angeles-based physician and leading clinician in the fields of men’s health and HIV disease. Dr. Mills serves as the primary care provider for 1500 patients including over 700 living with HIV. He has served on the national board of the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM) and is an experienced clinical investigator with extensive research experience.  He has been a principal investigator on over 50 trials dealing with many aspects of HIV disease and is one of the few HIV specialists focusing on the emerging field of HIV & the aging population.   Dr. Mills has also been recognized by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and the California legislature for his outstanding contributions to the community.

Activities will include an exceptional silent auction, a special performance by Fourtissimo String Quartet, the hilarious Queers of Comedy, an exciting raffle for a week-long stay at W Barcelona (courtesy of W Hollywood) complete with $2,000 in travel voucher/expense gift checks, wonderful food, as well as cocktails courtesy of GREY® GOOSE Vodka.
