Despite decades as an iconic entertainment journalist, despite the publication of her autobiography and magazines bearing her name, despite countless appearances on talk shows and at fundraising events, Rona Barrett wants people to know something more about her life.
“I still have so many stories to tell,” she laughed.
That’s a good thing to know, especially as she readies for a one-woman show in her hometown of Santa Ynez.
Dubbed “Rona Barrett: Nothing But the Truth,” she will perform the show at 7 p.m. on Oct. 15-16 at the Santa Ynez Valley Union High School Theatre.
“This is a little labor of love to do for this community that I feel has been so wonderful to me,” Ms. Barrett said.
The show is more than just a chance for the well-known television reporter to spin tales of Hollywood’s golden age, or to disclose insider tidbits to an audience hoping for some pop culture insight.
Instead, the proceeds from the show, which costs $50 per ticket, will benefit her Rona Barrett Foundation, and specifically her dream of buying land in the Santa Ynez Valley for her long-desired “Golden Inn and Cottages.”
