Building the Golden Inn & Village

2017

The Golden Inn & Village (GIV) is situated on approximately 7.3 acres in the bucolic Santa Ynez Valley community which is about 30 minutes north of Santa Barbara.

The Golden Inn & Village in the Santa Ynez Valley was conceptualized and spearheaded by The Rona Barrett Foundation, a nearly 20- year-old non-profit dedicated to providing care services and housing solutions for in-need and vulnerable senior citizens.

Golden Inn & Village residents participate in a no-cost computer lab.

The Golden Inn & Village is a place where low-income senior citizens can call home.

Seniors have access to many wellness programs and services at the Golden Inn & Village.

The Golden Inn & Village is located in California’s Santa Ynez Valley.

All GIV residents rely on social security incomes and some subsist on very little to provide for their monthly expenses.

The Golden Inn & Village has received two National Awards of Excellence from NAHRO (National Association of Housing & Redevelopment Officials)

There are extraordinary services, which Rona envisioned, which are available to the GIV community such as a FitnessCenter, Beauty Salon, Library, Computer Center, Arts & Craft Center, Laundry Room, Dining Room and Commercial-Grade Kitchen, Outdoor Gardens, barbecues, bench/patio seating, trees and organic gardens throughout.

Anna Widling is the Director of Wellness Programs & Services at the Golden Inn & Village.

The partner for the GIV is the Housing Authority of Santa Barbara County (HASBCO) in that it is through this entity that all residential applications are submitted, vetted and placed. In addition, they oversee general administrative operations for the Campus. The Rona Barrett Foundation provides innovative activities and customized wellness services for residents.

A nutritious meal program provided by the Rona Barrett Foundation is offered to residents at no-cost.

The Campus conducts regular Community VIP Tours to facilitate a better understanding of bringing affordable housing and wellness services under one roof.
